Discover your riding level and what to expect on the trail.
How to rate your riding ability
Beginner: A beginner rider may be new to horses, having only ridden once or twice. Beginners are still learning the fundamentals, including basic horse handling, grooming, and how to mount and dismount safely. They are getting comfortable controlling a horse at a walk and may need guidance in a group riding setting.
Novice: A novice rider has some experience, typically with up to about 30 rides, and feels comfortable at a walk, with limited trotting experience. Novices can steer and control a horse but may feel unsteady in new environments or with more independent control.
Intermediate: An intermediate rider is balanced and in control at both a walk and trot and can confidently handle varied terrain. They’re comfortable riding for several hours at a time and can maintain balance and posture independently.
Advanced: An advanced rider has extensive experience and can manage a spirited horse in diverse environments. Advanced riders are well-balanced, with refined control, and can ride for extended periods with ease. They’re confident handling all paces, although this may not be necessary on every trip.
Legendary Rider: You’ve mastered it all, from trotting through tough trails to commanding any pace with ease. Ready for the ultimate test? If you dare, we might just have a spirited bronco waiting for you… but only if you’re prepared to really see what you’re made of! This level is for those who practically live in the saddle and are looking to push their skills to the edge.
What to expect on our rides
All our trips focus on experiencing nature, creating connections, and the joy of exploring the wilderness. Here’s what you can expect, whatever your riding level:
Guided Horse Preparation: Our team will saddle and prepare each horse before the ride. We double-check everything for safety, so you can relax and focus on the adventure.
Beginner-Friendly Instruction: For beginners, we introduce the essentials—from holding the reins and guiding your horse to building confidence with our support. You’ll also learn how our horses respond to basic commands, the cues they recognize, and what they’re used to hearing on the trail.

Whether you're new to riding or have years of experience, we're here to make sure you're well-matched with a horse and fully supported on the trail for a safe, memorable experience.
